Brighton Skyhome Penthouse by mckimm

Prominent Melbourne architectural design and construction practice founder Nick McKimm is selling his impressive Brighton penthouse with a $9.1m-$9.9m range.
Thirty-five years ago, Mr McKimm started a construction business which has since become a company of builders, interior designers and architects specialising in high-end residential projects and boutique developments.
In 2024, Mckimm’s ‘Moda’ complex in Brighton was short-listed in the Australian Interior Design Awards’ residential design category.
And three years previously, the ‘Sussex House’, also in Brighton, was short-listed for the same awards.
RT Edgar’s Will Maxted and Rina Ma have the listing which features CBD views, plus a private pool and spa, gym, lift and five-car basement garage.
Mr McKimm said he was inspired by Byron Bay, and the Greek and Spanish islands, when designing the home that showcases soft curves, travertine stone and Venetian plaster walls.
His treasured memories include entertaining family and friends on the deck.
Mr McKimm says the penthouse has a calm and tranquil feel.
The penthouse is part of a boutique complex with the architecture, interior design and build completed by Mckimm.
Mr McKimm moved into the residence in 2023 but is selling as he wants to embark on his next project.
The views from the kitchen and bedroom are among his favourite features.
“In terms of the master bedroom, because you’re on the level above, that’s got bay views and city views,” Mr McKimm said.
“It’s a huge room that’s beautiful with the big balcony.”
The stone throughout the penthouse was imported from overseas, while a floor lamp was made in Ukraine and shipped to Australia.
It will potentially be available to purchase if the Skyhome’s buyer is interested.
“There’s a matching light in the dining area and a pendant in the bathroom that were both custom-made in Byron Bay,” Mr McKimm added.
Elsewhere there’s landscape design by John Patrick Landscape Architects, a powder room, white steel feature doors, natural timber veneers in the kitchen and external off-form concrete planter boxes.
Mr McKimm is moving with plans to begin work on his next project.
Curving walls are among the design features.
Mr Maxted described the Skyhome as “thoughtful, functional, and beautifully considered”.
“It’s rare to see a property like this in Brighton, a home that’s both a personal statement and an exceptional piece of architecture,” Mr Maxted said.
“We’re expecting strong interest from local and international buyers who appreciate not only the prestige of the address but the genuinely world‑class design that defines the Skyhome by mckimm.”
